SRC VI
The SRC VI is a powerful
universal tool for modern home and pro studio envrionments when several digital
devices are used together.
More and more audio devices
(DAT-recorder, sampler, computer, ...) now include S/PDIF or AES/EBU digital
interface connectors. That is basically a very positive development because
it means that you can avoid unwanted AD and DA conversion to transfer audio
signals. However, the problem in many cases is that the different devices are
incompatible because they are not using the same format or do not support all
important sample rates.
The SRC VI by ST Audio is solving
all these common problems. The six main applications include:
- |
digital
patchbay/switchbox for up to 6 AES/EBU and S/PDIF signal streams |
- |
high
quality realtime sample rate convertion (bypass possible) |
- |
digital
signal distribution |
- |
master
clock generation (WordClock out) |
- |
signal
convertion (AES/EBU <-> S/PDIF) |
- |
signal
repeating to extend the max. length of digital connections |
You can connect up to six AES/EBU
or S/PDIF input streams at the same time to the SRC VI (5 inputs are on the
back side of the product, one input in each format is placed on the front for
easy access). There are six separate outputs (2 AES/EBU, 2 optical S/PDIF, 2
coaxial S/PDIF) that are sending out the signal that has been selected on the
front panel. One output in each format is placed on the front side for easy
access, the other outputs are on the back panel. The input signal can be sent
out via the outputs 1:1 if desired (with the same sample rate). Also
the sample rate can be changed if needed. There is even a WordClock in- and
output for internal and external synchronisation.
As you can see, the SRC VI
is a universal unit that solves many connection problems in a modern digital
studio envrionment. A detailed description of the product with application examples
can be found inside the manual (see below).
